Program Rationale –AJIPD’s first circle course organization reflects the demands of: the three year (six semester program) leading to the Baccalaureate in philosophy and theology.

Credit Load

    • The four features of philosophy programme carry the following ECTS credit value:
    1. Core Courses:  108-126 ECTS
    2. Supplementary Obligatory Courses:  15 ECTS
    3. Seminars:  59 ECTS
    4. Comprehensive Examinations:  8 ECTS
    •  The three features of theology programme carry the following ECTS credit value:
    1. Core Disciplines:  215  ECTS
    2. Seminars:  03  ECTS
    3. Comprehensive Examinations:  08  ECTS


AJIPT’s Triennial Course Distribution

The course distribution is designed without compromising the requirements of the 180 ECTS credits minimum for the six semesters.
The allocation of the weekly hours per course does not necessarily correspond to credits proper to the course. For example, a 6-credit course is allocated 4 hours per week; 5-credit course is allocated 3 hours per week; and 3-credit course is allocated 2 hours per week. Accordingly, this means that the ECTS has been adopted, that is, besides the actual teaching hours per week; one hour is for research (library work), and another hour is for revision.

The Ministerial Year
The Rationale and Character
The ministerial year is required for the candidates to the priesthood who have completed their theological studies of the first cycle. Its aim is to bring about the integration of theological knowledge gained in the three-year course of studies with the pastoral ministry.


The Framework and Arrangement

  • The ministerial year consists of two components: coursework and pastoral practicum. Both components have a markedly practical character.
  • The coursework for the ministerial year comprises of six courses.
  • Upon successful completion of the ministerial year, the student is awarded a special diploma issued by the AJIPT.
